This is another popular trek on the true left side of Ganges, situated at the height of 1330m. This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. It is believed that this location where this temple stands, lord Shiva consumed the poison which came from sea when god and demons churned the sea to get Amrita (Sanskrit: amṛta or Greek: ambrosia is a word that literally means "immortality") from churning of sea with many other valuables.
As a result of drinking poison, Shiva has got blue throat (Neelkanth), thus this temple get its name.
